Bramleys are a lovely cooking apple but not the only variety good to cook with.
From dessert apples try cooking with Worcester Pearmain, or Discovery.
Using culinary apples how about Edward VII, Grenadier, Antonovska, Howgate Wonder, Captain Tom, Catshead...? there are so many to choose from. Although sadly our supermarkets sell very few of the wonderful selection of British apples.
If you have access to dessert, culinary or dual purpose apples there are many great textures and flavours to try.
Apples are great in chutney and our Crab Apple Jelly is legendary. Check out the jam, jelly, chutney and juices we have for sale at https://colwallorchardgroup.org/event4

During Apple Week we are juicing apples with Colwall Primary school children, which is always a joy!
We are offering a juicing service to our members - please get in touch. (https://colwallorchardgroup.org/contact-us
Did you know Colwall was once a productive centre for the growing, harvesting and processing of fruit? Even supplying cherries to Cadburys, no less!
We have researched the history of our orchards and have produced a leaflet to guide you on a walk around key village landmarks and wonderful traditional orchards.
It's a super walk!

Thank you for joining us during Apple Week.
At Colwall Orchard Group we run a series of events throughout the year - we Wassail in the New Year, we hold a Mistletoe Fair in December, we celebrate the Spring with our Blossom Picnic, and we celebrate our harvest with Apple Day.
Our events this year have had to be cancelled but we still continue to work in our orchards, help others with their orchards, and continue our passion for all things apple and orchard-related.
There are many ways you can get involved or support us.
