The Colwall Village Garden will be hosting a Seed Swap on Sunday 4th March from 1.30pm for allotment holders only, then between 2 and 4pm for everyone. Anyone with seeds they don't want or more seeds than they need
is invited to come and swap or share at the Village Garden site on Old Church Road. Perhaps you save your own seed and would like to share it.
The idea is to swap packet for packet, or part thereof, and there will be some brown seed envelopes available for splitting packets of seeds.
You will still be very welcome if you do not have seeds, a small donation is asked for if you would like to take seeds but have nothing to swap. This is a great way of getting seeds and trying out different varieties at low cost. The Colwall Allotment Association has a supply of heirloom seeds from the Heritage Seed Library on offer if you fancy growing something not available in the seed catalogues. These seeds are usually only available by joining the HSL.
There will be tea and cakes, apple juice and preserves for sale. As usual parking is very limited and
may be impossible depending on ground conditions, please walk or cycle if you can.

Past Highlights include..
Wassailing, 14th January 2012
For once, we had a beautiful calm, clear, starry night for our Wassailing, so we gathered in excellent spirits at the Yew Tree Inn and on Colwall Green. The blowing of horns and banging of drums signalled the lighting of torches, lanterns and flares and the musicians led the lighted procession across the fields to Cummin’s orchard. Read more.
The Mistletoe Harvest 2011
For the last 3 years we have taken a modest harvest of mistletoe during our normal orchard activities and sold the mistletoe at our own Mistletoe Fair and various local outlets. This year we decided we should try to raise more funds from our harvest by taking the mistletoe to part of the country that is not blessed with its own mistletoe - and took the opportunity of a stall at Belgravia. Colwall Apple Day 15th October 2011 We had fantastic weather for our Apple Day at Colwall Cricket Club. Apple Day is a great way to discover more about Colwall’s rich orchard heritage, as well as being an excellent afternoon out for the family. We repeated our tried and tested favourites of apple based children’s games, apple pressing, apple identification and refreshments and added a new line in the sales of Colwall Orchard produce. Colwall Village Garden Open Day - 18th September 2011
Colwall Orchard Group and Colwall Allotment Association invited people from Colwall and beyond to visit Colwall Village Garden on our Open Day. Over 200 people came to see what we have acheived in such a short time and were very impressed with our progress. After the opening ceremony, with speeches by Bill Wiggin MP and David Aritage of the Malvern Hills AONB, we planted the first tree in the community orchard. After the event, members and friends stayed on for a "bring and share" BBQ with music by Med Snook and Pete Burton. Click for "full write up".
Dawn Chorus ramble and Blossom Picnic - 1st May 2011 30 people got up early to join us for a Dawn Chorus ramble through the orchards, in slightly misty and windy conditions. We heard lots of birds and got good views of a very obliging Redstart before returning to the Chase Inn for a welcome warming breakfast. We resumed down on Broadwood orchard in sunshine, but with the last of the blossom all blown away by the wind.
We had face painting, willow weaving and art activities for the children, found bugs birds and beasties on our wildlife safari and then relaxed over our picnic lunch with music from Phil and Julia. In the evening, we reconvened at the Chase Inn to watch a ‘pre-enactment’ of the Blossom picnic as part of our coverage on Countryfile. It was an excellent May Day, so many thanks to all our supporters. Read more
